NM, NGM & NAM
A nautical mile is a unit of distance A nautical ground mile (NGM) is distance travelled over the earth’s surface A nautical air mile (NAM) is the distance travelled through an air mass
NAM = NGM * TAS / GS NGM = NAM * GS / TAS

Fuel / Energy Policy - Fuel Schemes
An operator can choose between three different fuel schemes:
Basic Fuel Scheme
‘the raw template’ for what can be considered as part of the fuel plan incl 5% trip fuel contingency.
Basic Fuel Scheme ==with variations==
Individual Fuel Scheme (not examined)
However sometimes questions refer to the Basic Scheme without variations. If there are no variations then it is just the Basic Scheme.
Three key areas must be considered:
- A fuel / energy planning and in flight re-planning policy
- An aerodrome selection policy
- An in-flight fuel/energy management policy
The fuel/energy scheme and any change to it shall require prior approval by the competent authority.
